What happens during the menopause
Between the mid-forties and the mid-fifties the body gradually ceases its production of oestrogen and progesterone. Because oestrogen governs far more than the cycle – blood vessels, bones, skin, mucous membranes, joints, sleep and mood – the complaints are so varied: hot flushes and sweats, sleep problems, irritability, weight gain, vaginal dryness, bladder weakness, joint stiffness, declining libido. Much of this is not recognised as hormonal and is treated for years as something else.
Two paths – you decide
Naturopathic. Many women come through these years very well with phytotherapy (herbal medicines), homeopathy, acupuncture and targeted adjustments to nutrition and lifestyle. That is our first path – without hormones, individually composed.
With bioidentical hormones. Where the complaints are severe or bones and blood vessels need protection, we work with bioidentical hormones: active substances whose structure corresponds to the body's own hormones. Individually dosed, as low as possible, with regular monitoring.
Both paths can be combined and adjusted at any time. We decide together what is right for you – based on your hormone status, your medical history and your wishes. The detailed diagnostics take place in our hormone consultation.
What many do not think of
Joint pain and morning stiffness of the fingers are frequently an early sign of oestrogen deficiency – in our experience this is often recognised only after a long series of investigations. Dry eyes, heart palpitations and inner restlessness can also be hormonal. A hormone status brings clarity before unnecessary treatment begins.
