What PCOS is
In polycystic ovary syndrome the ovaries produce too many male hormones (androgens). Egg maturation falters and ovulation frequently fails to occur. Typical signs: infrequent or absent periods, blemished skin and acne, increased hair growth on the chin, chest or abdomen, hair loss on the head, weight gain – and often an unfulfilled desire for a child. The sugar metabolism is frequently involved as well (insulin resistance), which drives the hormonal disorder further.
How we diagnose
An in-depth conversation, a gynaecological examination with ultrasound of the ovaries and a complete hormone status including blood sugar and thyroid values. This is how we distinguish PCOS from other causes of cycle disorders – an important step, because the treatment differs fundamentally.
How we treat
We treat PCOS at its roots, not just its symptoms:
- Nutrition and metabolism: a targeted change of diet is the single most effective lever in insulin resistance – we support you with concrete guidance that works in everyday life.
- Cycle regulation: hormonally where necessary; naturopathically with phytotherapy, homeopathy and acupuncture where possible.
- When you are trying for a baby: targeted stimulation of egg maturation with cycle monitoring – PCOS is one of the most rewarding starting points of fertility treatment, because the egg reserve is usually good.
- Skin and hair: anti-androgenic treatment approaches, adapted to your life plans.
Why holistic matters especially here
PCOS is not an isolated ovarian disorder but a metabolic process. Prescribing only the pill postpones the issue – looking at nutrition, exercise, stress and hormones together changes it. That has been our approach for more than 30 years.
Legal notice: Homeopathy, phytotherapy and acupuncture are complementary medical methods; their effectiveness is not generally recognised by scientific evidence.
